Caught by Rain in the White Mountains

The White Mountains caught us in a sudden, soaking rain. We took shelter in a small cabin as the rain had planned drumming heavily on the roof all night, as we had a small fire going to stay warm and dry, for a fantastic night sleep. When we finally opened the door at dawn, the world smelled raw and alive — chlorophyll and umami scents rising from the fog still lingering as a blinding sun began to warm and dry everything. At that moment, the forest breathed with pure green depth and sweet resin while the memory of the fire lingered softly in the air. 

Light this candle to live that moment: the quiet after the storm, the scent of the mountains waking up, and the feeling of stepping into a fresh new day.
